Bernardine Evaristo
Bernardine Evaristo is an Anglo-Nigerian author of books of fiction and verse. Her novel Girl, Woman, Other won the Booker Prize 2019
Evaristo’s work explores aspects of the African diaspora: past, present, real, imagined. Her writing also spans short fiction, reviews, essays, drama and writing for radio. She is Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University London and was President of the Royal Society of Literature from 2022 to 2025. She was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2009, and lives in London.
