Kwame Anthony Appiah is a philosopher, cultural theorist and novelist.

Currently Professor of Philosophy and Law at New York University, Appiah is an Honorary Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge and has taught at Yale, Cornell, Duke, Harvard and Princeton universities. In 2012 he was presented with the National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama. His non-fiction writing includes an award-winning collection of essays.

Appiah reviews regularly for the New York Review of Books and writes a weekly column in the New York Times magazine. He is also the author of three mystery novels featuring the barrister-sleuth Sir Patrick Scott.
