Helen Mort is a poet, author and creative writing lecturer.
From Sheffield, Helen Mort’s first poetry collection, Division Street, was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Costa Prize. Her second collection, No Map Could Show Them, is a Poetry Book Society Choice. She was a five-times winner of the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award and a Poet in Residence at The Wordsworth Trust.
In 2014, she was named as one of the Poetry Book Society’s Next Generation Poets. Her debut novel Black Car Burning was published in 2019. She writes drama and creative non fiction and has taught creative writing - currently a senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University - and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
