The fates have a say in the life of Virginia Reeves; she has one husband, two daughters and a three-legged pit bull terrier and their house has survived both a major earthquake and a fire.
Numerology was evident too in the Montana-based author’s journey into writing. She applied three times to creative writing programmes; ‘The first time, I didn’t get into any. The second time, I got into two, but without funding…The third time I applied to programs, I got into three of six, and all three offered me full funding.’ It was then she started work on Work Like Any Other. Much of Reeves’s career has been spent as a teacher and she claims to have done only two days physical work in her life – one in a timber yard, the other injecting hormones into neutered calves.
