Julian Rathbone's novel Diamonds Bid was published in 1967. It was the first of many books in a career that spanned more than 40 years.
Julian Rathbone was the author of many highly acclaimed novels, including Kings of Albion, The Last English King and Joseph, which was shortlisted for the 1979 Booker Prize. His great uncle was the actor Basil Rathbone, star of more than 70 films.
