Shortlist POS for the International Booker Prize 2026

The International Booker Prize is the world’s most influential award for translated fiction. Each year it celebrates the best fiction from around the world, which has been translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland.  This year’s prize is supported by Bukhman Philanthropies.

The 2026 shortlist of six books will be announced on Tuesday, 31 March. Discover the 13 longlisted titles that are in the running here.  

The Booker Prize Foundation is creating free POS for bookshops in the UK and Ireland to help customers find their ideal read from the shortlist. 

Natasha Brown, Chair of International Booker Prize 2026 judges, says of the longlist: 

‘Whether it’s for a birthday, a book club, or the bus ride to work, I’m confident that there’s a perfect fit among these 13 brilliant books. 

‘Many of the submitted books examined the devastating consequences of war, which is reflected in our longlist. The list also features petty squabbles between neighbours, mysterious mountain villages, Big Pharma conspiracies, witchy women, ill-fated lovers, a haunted prison, and obscure film references. The page counts range from ‘pocket-friendly’ to ‘doorstopper.’ And while the books’ original publication dates span four decades, each story feels fresh and innovative. 

‘It is my absolute pleasure to share this sparkling selection of our favourites.’ 

Please fill in the form below to receive free POS materials. Printed materials include an A2 poster, A4 poster, bookmarks and shelf strips. All materials are printed on FSC-certified paper. The digital toolkit will include logos, images, social media assets and downloadable posters.  

The form needs to be completed by 5pm on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. The digital toolkit will be emailed after 2pm on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. We aim to deliver the printed POS by Tuesday, 7 April 2026. 

This year we are running a shortlist POS competition for independent bookshops based in the UK and Ireland with the chance to win two tickets to the International Booker Prize 2026 ceremony.

All booksellers have to do to take part is put together an original and creative display using our printed International Booker Prize 2026 shortlist POS materials, and some or all of the shortlisted books. Take a photo of your display and send it to [email protected] by 5pm (BST) on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
