Rules and submissions process for entering the Booker Prize and International Booker Prize.

Submissions for the Booker Prize 2023 are now closed and submissions for the International Booker Prize 2024 are in progress.

Please note, only publishers can submit entries to the prizes; authors, translators and agents are not permitted to enter the prizes directly.

Submissions for the Booker Prize 2023

Submissions are now closed. The 2023 longlist and shortlist can be found here, and the winner will be announced on November 26.

The Booker Prize is awarded annually to the author of the best (in the opinion of the judges) eligible work of long-form fiction.

The 2023 prize is for a work published in the UK or Ireland between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2023. Authors are not permitted to enter their own works.

Submissions for the International Booker Prize 2024

Submissions for the International Booker Prize 2024 are in progress. New entries are not being accepted.

The International Booker Prize for fiction translated into English is awarded annually to the author and translator of the best (in the opinion of the judges) eligible novel or collection of short stories.

The work must be published in the UK or Ireland between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024.

The deadline for online entry forms was Friday September 8, 2023

The deadline for the accompanying finished works (print copies and PDF files) and supporting assets was/is:

  • Friday September 29, 2023 for works published between May 1 and November 30, 2023;
  • Friday January 12, 2024 for works published between December 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024.
