The 2020 Booker Prize awards ceremony will take place from the Roundhouse on Thursday 19 November, rather than on the previously announced date of 17 November. This decision has been taken to avoid a clash with the publication of Barack Obama’s memoirs, A Promised Land.
Gaby Wood, Literary Director of the Booker Prize Foundation, comments, ‘We thought it unfortunate that two of the most exciting literary events of the year – the announcement of the winner of the 2020 Booker Prize and the publication of Barack Obama’s memoirs – were due to fall on the same day, so we’ve decided to give readers a couple of days' breathing space. Our unprecedented ceremony without walls, devised in collaboration with the BBC, will take place across multiple platforms on 19 November instead. Details about how to watch and take part will be announced shortly.’
